Our History
When Joe Sakosits opened his wood flooring business in 1932, little did he imagine that just two generations later his family business would have left a legacy in the construction business, having provided wood flooring for some of the most iconic buildings in the New York City area & throughout the country.
In the midst of a bleak economy Joe, son of Hungarian immigrants, had founded Hoboken Wood Flooring Corporation - a distributorship selling wood flooring directly to dealers. Over the next several decades, this family business grew from a handful of employees and a truck into a regional industry leader, with many locations throughout the United States, a diverse product line, and a service department that was second to none. Hoboken Floors had become the "go to" destination for those seeking the very best in hardwood flooring materials and high quality workmanship.
In early 2005, Capitol Wood Floors, the installation division of Hoboken Floors led by grandson Brian Sakosits, branched out on its own bringing with it a legion of loyal customers. The original Hoboken Floors, under new ownership, closed its doors 18 months later but Joe Sakosits’ American dream lives on in Capitol Wood Floors.
